“Not so fast….”
Just because someone wears a lab coat or has an impressive acronym behind their name does not mean they are always correct – or even honest. Several major icons of science that were major promoters of macro-evolution were proven frauds:
1) Ernst Haeckel – The New York Times (March 9, 1907 ed.) called him ‘The celebrated Darwinian and founder of the Association for the Propagation of Ethical Atheism.” As a German, also noted for his work on classifying the Jewish people as “parasitic.” Haeckel falsely exaggerated drawings of similarities between embryos of different species to promote his “faith”. Though tried by 5 of his peers and convicted of fraud by a court in Jena, at the university where he taught. However, his drawings were still found in textbooks even today.
2) Piltdown Man – The legendary “missing link” was thought to have been discovered in 1912 by a lawyer named Charles Dawson from Sussex, England. With Dr. Arthur Smith backing his claims, the New York Times declared the discovery to be ‘the true missing link’, with a headline to follow reading, “Darwin Theory Proved to be True.” It was even given the scientific name “Eoanthropus dawsoni” (Dawson’s dawn man) to make it official. Scientific literature began etching their drawings into their books with the classic ‘caveman’ looking figures to solidify their case and school books were quickly published to teach the discovery to school children. But then, when other legitimate scientists were allowed to observe it, they discovered that it wasn’t just one skull; rather, it was 2 human skulls, an orangutan jaw, an elephant molar, a hippopotamus tooth, and a canine tooth from a chimpanzee, fashioned together with glue, acid, and bubble gum. Iron sulfate was used to stain certain areas along with the filing down of molars for matching. It is suspected that as many as 5 men were involved in the fraud along with Dawson, including Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, inventor of the character ‘Sherlock Holmes’.
3) Nebraska Man (Hesperopithecus haroldcookii) – Perhaps the most imaginative of macro-evolutionary hoaxes, built an entire hominid from one tooth discovered by a farmer in 1922. Dr. Henry Fairfield Osborn, head of the Department of Paleontology at New York’s American Museum of Natural History, used the tooth to promote his religion of humans having descended directly from apes. As with the aforementioned, upon closer observation, it was discovered that the tooth was from a wild pig, which unfortunately for Dr. Osborn, did not fly.
4) Flipperithicus (1983) – possibly one of the least known hoaxes has nevertheless earned its rightful place in this hall of shame. Anthropologist Dr. Noel Boaz from New York University had first stated that a 5 million year old fossilized rib was that of a ‘humanoid species’. Now, Dr. Tim White, anthropologist at the University of California-Berkeley, along with others, has declared it to be nothing more than the rib bone of a dolphin – thus being dubbed “Flipperithicus.”
5) Archaeoraptor – and possibly one of the greatest recent embarrassments to the pseudo-scientific community in its rush to verify its religious assertions is this hailed link between dinosaurs and birds. A Chinese farmer reportedly discovered the fossil, which caused an incredible flurry of activity in church of Darwin. National Geographic rushed in, publishing an impressive multi-page color pictorial of the elusive creature, including a large centerfold no-less. However, when scientists from around the world were gathered together for the grand unveiling of the hallowed piece, immediate dismay began to resonate through the observers. As one scientist stated, he could see halfway across the room the glue marks holding the 2 pieces together. National Geographic wrote a retraction in 2000 that was about an inch in space.
6) ‘Lucy’ (Australopithecine) - While many today believe what they have heard the mainstream media, few have actually looked at the data concerning Lucy. However, little attention is being drawn to it because as real testable and observable science is practiced, evidence shows it is not the holy grail once perceived to be. Moreover, discoverer Dr. Johanson gave a lecture at the University of Missouri in Kansas City on Nov. 20, 1986, on Lucy and why he thinks ‘she’ is a human ancestor. After lecturing about his assertions, he opened the meeting for questions. A gentleman by Roy Holt asked; “How far away from Lucy did you find the knee?” (The knee bones were actually discovered about a year earlier than the rest of Lucy). Dr. Johanson answered (reluctantly) about 200 feet lower and two to three kilometers away (about 1.5 miles). Continuing, Holt asked, “Then why are you sure it belonged to Lucy?” To which Dr. Johanson answered, “Anatomical similarity.” Keep in mind that bears and dogs have anatomical similarities.
7) Neanderthal –Le Moustier (skull) in the glass display of the Museum fur Vor-und Fruhgeschichte in Berlin, Germany, has the lower jawbone (TM Fossa) situated approximately 30 mm out of socket, jutting the jaw forward for an ‘ape-like’ appearance as x-rayed and observed by Dr. Jack Cuozzo (Georgetown University biology major; University of Pennsylvania D.D.S.; Loyola University/Chicago Graduate School of Dentistry; M.S. Oral Biology; Certificate of Specialty in Orthodontics; Lieutenant US Navy,; practicing orthodontist 31 years,; 2 years Head of Orthodontic Section and 2 years Assistant Director of the Dental Department at Mountanside Hospital, Montclair, New Jersey). Additionally, the Le Moustier model has the skull improperly reconstructed to adopt the animal appearances, as observed in x-ray tests performed by Dr. Cuozzo.
This extremely abbreviated list is ever-growing. But it begs the question – Why? Why is there so much fraud and so little scrutiny? Why does so-called science get a pass when claims are made, such as ‘it is common knowledge’ and ‘well documented by the science community’ and ‘proven’ – with no room for questioning the assertions? Why is the biblical record so open for disbelief and the religion of Darwinism unapproachable? Spiritual warfare and the money behind the propaganda are 2 starting points. But the battle for the human mind is a prevalent now than ever before.
And not to mention the competition:
“The 1470 Skull discovered by Richard Leakey in 1972 was originally ‘dated’ at 2.6 million years. However, many anthropologists objected because then the more modern 1470 Skull would predate all its supposed ancestors. Thus 1470 was ‘re-dated’ until a more ‘acceptable’ estimate of 1.8 million years was adopted.”— John N. Moore, “Teaching About Origin Questions: Origin of Human Beings”
“The 1470 skull was pieced together by Richard Leakey’s wife Meave and several anatomists from dozens of fragments — a jig jaw puzzle that took six weeks to assemble. [Now] Dated at 1.89 million years old, with a cranial capacity of 750 cc., Leakey believes it is the oldest fossil of a true human ancestor. In his view, the australopithecines and other hominid fossils were sidebranches.
“Leakey fought hard to win a place for his 1470 (along with the previous habiline fragments found at Olduvai) because most anthropologists thought the skull was simply ‘too modern-looking’ to be as ancient as he at first claimed.” — R. Milner, Encyclopedia of Evolution (1990), p. 217.
Fought hard? I thought we were dealing with science, data, hard facts, and the like. But as we see, there is a game of sorts being played here. And the goal of interest is not one of truth, but one that gives position, prestige, power, money, and control.
But in this corner of the kingdom , everything is open for scrutiny. It’s high time we started asking the same questions of that which touted as ‘indisputable fact’. The invisible ‘they’ who have ‘proven’ so much get no pass here. We are called to think this through and see which ‘religion’ holds sway as truth. After all, if God has presented something that is not the way it is represented in Scripture, one must ask why and where are the limits, if any? Why would such secular knowledge be required to understand our origins? Much is on the line and we should never fear what lies ahead in our discoveries.
